The PTE Academic test is divided into 3 parts. The total test time is approximately 2 hours.
Part 1 - Speaking and Writing
Duration: 54 to 67 minutes Question types: 9 different types
This section is the longest and combines two skills. You will speak into a microphone and type written responses on a computer.
Common question types include:
- Read aloud - You read a text out loud
- Repeat sentence - You hear a sentence and say it back
- Describe image - You describe a graph, chart, or image
- Re-tell lecture - You summarise a short academic lecture
- Answer short question - Quick one-word or short-phrase answers

Part 2 - Reading

In this section, you read passages and answer questions. Types include:

Part 3 - Listening
